I Will Find Her Again

When my heart is in the right place…

I will find her again…

I wasn’t very old the first time I saw her…

We became friends and playmates…

They made fun of me when I spoke of her…

We built mountains out of fallen leaves…

Since they didn’t believe in her…

She would stick her arms out and begin to spin…

I would clap my hands and spin with glee…

We finally moved from the home of my birth…

To a tree less plain were we planted trees…

All of the trees sprouted with leaves…

At least a dozen leaves the first year…

We walked to catch the school bus…

We learned it was an orchard…

I was like Heaven…

I found her again as she hid behind trees…

They made fun of me the same as before…

We both had grown as she told me of her life…

While I gathered peaches from the low branches…

Decades would pass before I would see her again…

I was buying apples from an orchard…

When I saw her as a full grown woman…

Or so I believed…

I stood staring into the orchard…

At my childhood friend…

They no one else could see…

All the people who made fun of me…

Have all passed away…

They never believed in me or my friend…

I remember the day she made the leaves fly..
